چکیده مقاله Comparison the retention of implant frameworks fabricated by three different method of waxing including CAD/CAM, Rapid prototyping and conventional techniques
Background and Objective: Implant supported Metal-ceramic restorations play an important role in replacing missing teeth. The conventional method of wax pattern fabrication and the inherited disadvantages introduce using alternative methods such as CAD/CAM and Rapid prototyping technologies. This experimental study compares the retention values of copings casted from CAD/CAM, Rapid prototyping and conventional waxing methods.Materials and Methods: Thirty-six Ufit solid abutment analogues of 5.5 mm height were divided randomly into three groups according to the wax-pattern fabrication method (n=12). CAD/CAM milling machine (Cori TEC 450i; imes-icore) was used to fabricate the first group wax-patterns, while 3D printer R66PLUS (Solidscape, Inc.)was applied to fabricate the second group. The third group was fabricated byconventional wax-up method. All wax-patterns were equalized in contour, thickness,and cement space. The copings casted from wax-patterns were finished and polishedthrough standard procedures. Specimens insertions on corresponded abutment wereevaluated and necessary adjustments were performed. Afterwards, the copingscemented to the abutment by zinc phosphate cement. Tensile resistance test was usedto measure retention value by universal testing machine.Findings: The retention mean values were measured 680.36±21.93 N for CAD/CAM group, 440.48±85.98 N for Rapid prototyping group, and 407.23±67.48 N for conventional group. One-way ANOVA test revealed significant differences among the three groups (p<0.001). Retention value was greater in CAD/CAM group compared to the others (p<0.001). It also revealed no significant differences between Rapid prototyping and conventional groups (p=0.54).Based on median and interquartile range (IQR) CAD/CAM group needed statistically significant more adjustment comparing with two other groups (P<0.001). There was no significant difference between RP and conventional group in this subject (P=0.986).Conclusion: Using CAD/CAM technique for wax-pattern fabrication will produce implant supported restorations with higher retention values compared to the conventional method; there is no significant difference between conventional and Rapid prototyping method of wax-pattern fabrication.
